About NCP
New Century Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (“New Century” or the “Company”) is an early-stage biopharmaceutical company with multiple technology platforms based in Huntsville, Alabama, that was founded in 1996 as a “spin out” of research conducted at NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration). New Century’s mission is to develop and commercialize technologies and products derived from crystallography research on the biophysical and biochemical mechanisms relating to the binding of ligands to serum proteins, including human serum albumin (HSA) for purposes including the development of safer and more efficacious pharmaceuticals.
The Company’s products provide the potential for (i) existing branded and generic drugs to be “tuned” to increase safety and efficacy, (ii) branded drug companies to innovate safer and more efficacious drugs, (iii) generic drug companies to market “branded generic” drugs with enhanced therapeutic profiles, and (iv) branded drug companies to extend the intellectual property protection horizons of their products.
New Century’s strategy is to focus sharply on two main areas moving forward: (i) specific oncology and infectious disease therapeutic applications, and (ii) further development of the Company’s HSA transgenic animal model, intended for albumin-based drug development and screening. Concurrently, the Company is pursuing strategic partnerships and/or licensing discussions for other non-core elements of its technology portfolio.
